Overview
Earthing & Lightning Protection
A low, stable earth resistance protects people, equipment and data. Garg Electricals supplies earthing material, with conventional and maintenance-free earthing for transformers, panels, machines and solar plants.
We supply GI and copper earthing plates, pipe and rod electrodes, chemical earthing electrodes with backfill compound, and earth pit covers. For lightning protection we stock air terminals, down-conductor material and test links. The matching GI and copper strips are in our strips and conductors range.
Earthing design follows IS 3043 and depends on soil resistivity, fault level and the equipment being protected. Share your pit count and specification and we will supply a complete kit for each pit.
Range
What we supply
Earthing plates
GI and copper earth plates for conventional earth pits.
Earthing electrodes
GI pipe, copper-bonded and solid copper rod electrodes in standard lengths.
Chemical earthing
Maintenance-free chemical earthing electrodes for low, stable earth resistance.
Backfill compound
Conductive backfill that holds moisture and lowers soil resistivity around the electrode.
Earth pit covers
Cast iron and polymer pit covers and inspection chambers.
Lightning arresters & air terminals
Conventional air terminals, down conductors and test links for building lightning protection.

FAQs
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between conventional and chemical earthing?
Conventional earthing uses a plate or pipe electrode with charcoal and salt, and needs regular watering and periodic maintenance. Chemical (maintenance-free) earthing uses a conductive backfill compound that holds moisture and keeps resistance more stable over time with little upkeep.
Should I use GI or copper earthing?
Copper has lower resistance and better corrosion life, so it is preferred for sensitive electronics, transformers and corrosive soils. GI is economical and widely used for general equipment earthing. Your consultant's specification or the CEA Regulations and IS 3043 guide the final choice.
How many earth pits does a transformer need?
Common practice provides separate earth electrodes for the transformer neutral and body, typically at least two each, interconnected as per IS 3043 and the design. The exact number depends on soil resistivity and the target earth resistance.
